Imagine a silence so
encompassing that you exist in complete isolation. Living in
absolute
isolation not just because you cannot
hear, but because you also cannot communicate.
That is the daily reality for thousands
of deaf children in Honduras. Hearing impaired
children
in Honduras cannot even communicate with
other deaf children, because they don't have the basic tool of a
common sign
language. The truth is that these
children will enter into prostitution, substance addiction, and
malnutrition if someone does
not intervene. They are living in a
world deaf to their needs. It's time we broke that
silence.
Since 1989 His Love
in Action School for the Deaf has been training and educating
hearing impaired children in
Tegucigalpa, the capital city of Honduras. From humble beginnings in
a one room building with 30 students, the school
has grown into a student body of over 60, meeting in a rented fourteen room
building in downtown Tegucigalpa.
But it is still not
enough! The waiting list is constantly growing and we
must turn away children for lack of space and
facilities. We cannot allow this to
continue. But we have a plan...
